The whimsical meadow is finshed. Well almost.... bbbzzzzz..... bbbzzzzzz.... buzzing insects will arrive to pollinate, later.
It's the first in a series I'm planning. The flowers and foliage were crocheted using tapestry wool and a beret from the local Op-shop. In fact, I managed to buy 13 berets in one visit, hence the series. If I can stay focused........ that's a big if.
The idea came from my love of being immersed in foliage and flowers, listening to the buzzing insects. The buzzing insects will be added later. They will be sitting on long pieces of wire which will gyrate when the head moves.
A beautiful Russian woman came to visit the other day. Her name is Ekatarina, aka Katya. I immediately sensed she was the one to wear the meadow for the photos following.
........ with a name like Ekatarina Petetskaya and a meadow on your head, you can rule a country!
The photos were taken in my garden by my husband, Tigger Newling, with assistance from Brendan Fletcher.
This piece first appeared in an interview with Dora from Crochet Insider. A good source of inspiration and fab crochet news.
Also a piece about my work in Adorn mag blog. Wish this publication was available here in Sydney.
The whimsical meadow is making process.
Lots of little flowers, foliage and buzzing insects. I love sitting in amongst the grasses and flowers listening to the buzzing insects. It will be a wearable piece........ not quite certain which body part will be involved.
A small selection of pink flowers.
A close up
Foliage........tendrils coming.
